Since its founding in 1924, the Shrine of St. Joseph has been a popular site for pilgrimages, especially popular with parish societies, lay volunteer organizations, school personnel and students. It continues that tradition today. Groups are encouraged to suggest their own theme – or one selected by the Shrine’s Retreat Team – and during the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. are hosted in the Shrine’s residence building’s Retreat Room.
The morning session is devoted to reflection on scripture and discussion, led by the moderator. Participants are free to walk the grounds or meditate in the Shrine Chapel, visit the Religious Gift Shop and visit with a priest for the Sacrament of Reconciliation before partaking of a full-course hot lunch, prepared by the Sisters Servants of Jesus, and served by the priests and brothers of the Shrine.
The day concludes with liturgy and Holy Communion.
